Chatting With AGAMI: The Band Built on Breath, Honesty, and Heart

From acting careers to a full band — get to know how AGAMI found their rhythm.
A new K-band is stepping onto the music scene with a lineup that already feels familiar. AGAMI made their official debut on February 6, 2026, with the single “Breath,” introducing a fresh sound that blends live instrumentation with the storytelling sensibilities of seasoned performers. While the group remains largely a mystery, their arrival has sparked curiosity among fans thanks to their unconventional background and each member's creative experience.
Before their official debut, AGAMI caught early attention with a performance on Immortal Songs, hinting at the musical chemistry that would soon define the band. The group is composed of multi-talented creatives, including actors and performers such as Kim Minseok, Kang Seungho, Lee Seunghee, Nam Minwoo, Lee David, and Jeong Chanho. With backgrounds spanning music, television, and performance, AGAMI enters the industry not only as a band but as a collaborative creative project.
To learn more about the group’s formation, musical direction, and what inspired their debut single, “Breath,” we spoke with AGAMI in an exclusive interview about their journey so far and what they hope listeners will discover in their music.

To start, can each member introduce themselves, share their role in AGAMI, and tell us one thing you enjoy doing outside of making music?
먼저, 각 멤버분들께서 자기소개와 함께 AGAMI에서 맡고 계신 역할, 그리고 음악 외에 즐겨 하시는 활동 한 가지를 말씀해 주세요.
KIM MINSEOK: I’m Kim Minseok, the vocalist of AGAMI. I used to box seriously for about four years, but once we formed the band, I stopped everything outside of music. These days, aside from my main work as an actor, I only focus on my Japanese classes and our music. I’ve pretty much cleared out everything else.
보컬을 맡고 있는 김민석입니다. 저는 4년 동안 복싱을 열심히 하다가 밴드를 결성한 순간부터 음악 외 모든 활동을 접고, 본업인 배우 일 외에는 일본어 수업과 음악 활동 말고는 아무것도 하지 않고 있습니다.
NAM MINWOO: Hello, I’m Nam Minwoo, and I play lead guitar in AGAMI. Outside of music, I’m active as an actor in dramas and musicals. When I have downtime, I like to clear my head by playing FConline.
안녕하세요, 저는 밴드 아가미에서 리드 기타를 담당하고 있는 남민우입니다. 음악 외에는 본업인 드라마와 뮤지컬 등 연기 활동을 하고 있고, 쉬는 시간에는 FConline 게임을 하면서 머리를 식힙니다.
KANG SEUNGHO: I’m Kang Seungho, the drummer. On my days off, I like to go surfing.
저는 드럼을 맡고 있는 강승호입니다. 쉬는 날이면 서핑을 즐깁니다.
LEE DAVID: I’m LEE DAVID, and I play guitar. I’m a big coffee lover, so I spend a lot of time hunting for good beans.
기타를 맡고 있는 이다윗입니다. 커피를 좋아해서 맛있는 원두를 찾아다니는 걸 즐깁니다.
JEONG CHANHO: I’m Jeong Chanho, the keyboardist. I enjoy making pottery.
키보드를 맡고 있는 정찬호입니다. 도자기 만드는 걸 좋아합니다.
LEE SEUNGHEE: Right now, I don’t really have any hobbies outside of playing bass. But it’s actually the first time I’ve ever been this absorbed in one thing, so every day feels really full in a good way.
현재는 베이스 치는 것 외에는 즐겨 하는 게 없습니다. 그럼에도 한 가지를 이렇게 몰두해서 해보는 게 처음이라 너무 가득한 나날들을 보내고 있습니다.
Before becoming a band, what were each of you doing, and what moment made you realize you wanted to pursue music together?
밴드를 결성하기 전, 각자 어떤 활동을 하고 계셨는지, 그리고 함께 음악을 하고 싶다고 느끼게 된 계기는 무엇이었는지 궁금합니다.
LEE DAVID: All of us—except for Seunghee on bass—are working as actors, each busy with our own projects. Minseok and I started practicing acoustic guitar together just as a hobby, and at some point we thought, “Since we’re practicing anyway, why not try performing, even on a small scale?” From there, it felt like forming a full band would be more fun than just the two of us. I already knew Nam Minwoo, who had band experience when he was younger, so we brought him in. Around the same time, Seungho was doing a one‑man drum performance called On the Beat, so he joined too. Chanho is a close younger friend from my neighborhood who loves music, so we added him as well. And finally, we met Seunghee—who had been quietly dreaming of becoming a bassist—while he was working at a bar in our neighborhood. We happened to stop by, got to know him, and brought him in. None of us were particularly skilled at the time, but I think we were all drawn together by this shared fantasy of making music.
저희는 베이스 이승희를 제외하고 모두 배우 활동을 하고 있어서 각자 작품 활동을 하며 시간을 보내다가, 민석이 형과 제가 통기타를 취미로 연습하게 되었고 연습한 김에 작은 공연이라도 해볼까 하는 마음이 들었습니다. 그러다 둘보다는 밴드가 더 좋을 것 같아서 시작하게 되었고, 어릴 때 밴드 활동 경험이 있는 남민우 배우와 친분이 있어 영입했습니다. 마침 강승호 배우가 1인 드럼 공연 ‘온 더 비트’를 하고 있어서 함께하게 되었고, 정찬호는 같은 동네에 사는 음악을 좋아하는 친한 동생이라 영입했습니다. 마지막으로 이승희는 혼자 베이시스트의 꿈을 키우던, 저희 동네 바에서 일하던 친구였는데 우연히 놀러 갔다가 알게 되어 합류하게 되었습니다. 다들 실력은 없었지만 음악에 대한 환상으로 모인 것 같아요.
NAM MINWOO: From 2009 to 2013, I was active in a band called Dal Tokki, but after that, I shifted into acting and continued working as an actor for years. Then I met the current members, and seeing their energy and the way they move as a group made me think, “If it’s with these people, I want to be in a band again.” That feeling is what brought me back to music with them.
저는 2009년부터 2013년까지 밴드 ‘달토끼’로 활동하다가 연기를 시작하면서 계속 배우 생활을 해왔습니다. 그러던 중 지금의 멤버들을 만나게 되었고, 이런 추진력과 이런 사람들이라면 다시 밴드를 하고 싶다는 생각이 들어 함께 음악을 시작하게 되었습니다.
The name AGAMI suggests a story of beginnings. What was the original vision for AGAMI, and how has it evolved since the project started?
AGAMI라는 이름에는 시작의 이야기가 담겨 있는 것 같습니다. 프로젝트 초기에 세웠던 비전은 무엇이었으며, 지금까지 어떻게 발전해 왔는지 알려주세요.
LEE DAVID: We used to joke around, saying things like “Let’s breathe together” or “Let’s match our breath,” and that became our way of expressing, “Let’s do something together.” Whether we were working out or practicing guitar, that phrase kept coming up. When we eventually formed the band, playing and singing together felt like we could finally breathe. That made us hope our music could also help people who are struggling in their daily lives feel even a little relief. That’s where the idea of becoming someone’s “gills” came from. Humans can’t breathe underwater, and these days, a lot of people say life feels like being underwater. But with gills, you can breathe there — so we wanted to become that for someone.
평소 장난으로 “같이 호흡하자”, “호흡 맞추자”라는 말을 자주 했는데, 그게 우리끼리 함께 무언가를 하자는 표현이었습니다. 운동할 때도, 기타 연습할 때도 늘 그런 말을 했어요. 그러다 밴드를 만들게 되었고, 함께 연주하고 노래할 때 숨통이 트이는 기분을 느꼈습니다. 우리의 노래가 우리뿐만 아니라 팍팍한 삶을 살아가는 사람들의 숨도 트이게 해주면 좋겠다는 마음이 생겼고, 우리가 사람들의 호흡기관이 되어주자는 생각으로 시작했습니다. 사람은 물속에서 숨을 못 쉬잖아요. 요즘 사는 게 힘들어서 물속에 있는 기분이라는 말도 많은데, 물속에서는 아가미로 숨을 쉬니까 우리가 그 아가미가 되자는 의미였습니다.
“Breath” marks your official entry into the music scene. What does this moment mean to each of you personally?
“Breath”는 여러분의 공식 데뷔를 알리는 곡입니다. 이 순간이 각 멤버분들께 어떤 의미인지 듣고 싶습니다.
KIM MINSEOK: For me, the biggest meaning is that we finally get to breathe together for the first time with our own music, not a cover. That alone feels really significant.
우선은 저희 밴드 멤버들과 커버곡이 아닌 저희 음악으로 첫 호흡을 할 수 있다는 것에 의미를 뒀습니다.
LEE DAVID: Everything about it felt surreal. The music we worked so hard on suddenly appeared on different platforms, and when you search our name, our band profile actually shows up. It’s a completely new feeling — something I never experienced while working as an actor.
모든 것이 신기했습니다. 우리가 고민하며 만든 음악이 여러 플랫폼에 올라오고, 검색하면 우리의 밴드 프로필이 나오고… 배우 활동을 하면서는 느껴보지 못했던 새로운 기분이었습니다.
KANG SEUNGHO: For me, it’s simply a new beginning — in the best way.

NAM MINWOO: I’ve always had this itch — this quiet wish to return to band life someday. When “Breath” was released, it felt like that itch was finally scratched in exactly the right way. It was a very satisfying moment.
개인적으로는 언젠가 다시 밴드를 하고 싶다는 소망이 늘 마음 한편에 간지럽게 자리 잡고 있었는데, “Breath”가 나오면서 그 간지러움을 정확히 긁어주는 순간이었던 것 같습니다.
Performing on Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend is a huge milestone. How did covering Muse’s “Starlight” challenge or shape you musically?
불후의 명곡 무대는 큰 이정표라고 생각됩니다. Muse의 “Starlight”를 커버하면서 음악적으로 어떤 도전이나 성장을 경험하셨나요?
LEE DAVID: I can still hear “Starlight” echoing from the stage in my head. Until then, music had always been something that existed mostly inside my own thoughts and standards. But the moment we stood in front of an audience, I realized music has to reach people — it has to create some kind of exchange. A song like “Starlight” already carries that quality, and performing it helped me feel even a small sense of connection with the audience. That was a big shift for me.
무대에서 울려 퍼지던 “Starlight”가 아직도 생생하게 들립니다. 이전까지는 음악의 의미가 제 안에서만 머물러 있었는데, 무대에서 관객들과 마주한 순간 음악은 듣는 사람들에게까지 잘 전달되어야 하고, 그 안에서 어떤 교류가 일어나야 한다는 걸 느꼈습니다. “Starlight” 같은 명곡에는 그런 요소들이 담겨 있었고, 덕분에 작게나마 관객들과의 교류를 느낄 수 있었습니다.
NAM MINWOO: As a guitarist, it made me think a lot about what I’m actually capable of and where I still fall short. That kind of realization was a really healthy push for me. And honestly, it was emotional too — I saw Muse live when I was younger and admired them so much. After recently seeing them again, deciding to cover “Starlight” with our band felt meaningful in a way that hit me right in the chest.
기타리스트로서 내가 해낼 수 있는 게 무엇일까 고민을 많이 하게 되었고, 부족함도 많이 느끼면서 좋은 자극이 되었습니다. 또 어릴 적 밴드를 하던 시절 동경했던 Muse의 내한 공연을 최근에 보고 나서 “우리도 Starlight를 커버하자”라고 결심했을 때 뭉클한 감정이 들었습니다.
What were some of the biggest lessons you learned while preparing for Immortal Songs and the release of “Breath,” both musically and personally?
불후의 명곡 무대 준비와 “Breath” 발매 과정에서, 음악적으로나 개인적으로 가장 크게 배운 점은 무엇이었나요?
KIM MINSEOK: There were moments when I hesitated about showing a different side of myself — something people weren’t used to seeing from me. But I realized people aren’t watching us as closely as we think. That made me understand, once again, that there’s no need to stress over a future that hasn’t even arrived yet.
대중들에게 익숙한 제 모습 외에 다른 모습을 꺼내 보여드리기 전에 잠깐 주저했던 순간들이 있었는데, 막상 보니 대중분들이나 사람들은 저희에게 그렇게 큰 관심이 없다는 걸 깨달았습니다. 그래서 닥치지 않을 미래를 걱정하며 노심초사할 필요가 없다는 걸 다시 한번 크게 배웠습니다.
KANG SEUNGHO: As an actor, one of the things I value most when taking on new roles is the courage to move forward without over‑predicting or assuming what’s ahead. Through preparing for the stage and releasing our music, I felt myself expanding into areas I never expected. That gave me a lot of courage — and a real sense of accomplishment.
배우 활동을 하면서 새로운 작품과 역할을 만날 때 중요하게 생각하는 것 중 하나가, 예상하거나 짐작하지 않고 한 치 앞도 모르는 길을 용기 있게 나아가는 마음입니다. 새로운 무대와 음원 발매를 통해 저라는 사람의 전혀 예상하지 못한 영역이 확장되는 것을 느꼈고, 그로 인해 큰 용기와 성취감을 가질 수 있었습니다.
“Breath” feels both powerful and emotional. Was vulnerability something you consciously wanted to showcase in your debut?
“Breath”는 강렬하면서도 감정적으로 깊은 곡이라는 인상을 줍니다. 데뷔곡에서 이러한 솔직함과 취약함을 의도적으로 보여주고자 하셨나요?
NAM MINWOO: We all agreed that we wanted to express a sense of lacking, that feeling of frustration or suffocation. That was the direction we aligned on from the start.
모두가 결핍과 답답함을 표현해보자는 의견이었습니다.
LEE DAVID: I felt that honesty had to come through for the song to really reach people. Even if we’re still rough around the edges, I hoped at least one line would resonate with someone.
진솔함이 묻어나와야 잘 전해진다고 생각했습니다. 서툴지만 한 구절이라도 와닿았으면 했습니다.
Can you walk us through how “Breath” evolved from a rough demo to a finished track, and how each member contributed?
“Breath”가 처음 데모 단계에서 완성된 곡으로 발전하기까지의 과정을 들려주시고, 각 멤버분들이 어떤 역할을 했는지 설명해 주실 수 있을까요?
LEE DAVID: When the first guitar riff came out, everyone immediately went, “This is it.” From there, we built the song by exchanging ideas about even the smallest details. Each member contributed beyond their assigned role. Whenever someone had a question or spotted an issue, we talked it through together. That collective process is what shaped the final version of “Breath.”
처음 나오는 기타 리프에 다들 “이거다!”라고 했습니다. 사소한 부분까지 많은 의견을 주고받으며 곡을 만들어 갔고, 각자에게 주어진 역할을 넘어서 의문이나 문제점들을 함께 나누고 고민하며 완성해 나갔습니다.
How do you think your individual backgrounds — in music and outside of music — influence AGAMI’s overall sound?
음악적인 배경뿐만 아니라 개인적인 경험들이 AGAMI의 사운드에 어떤 영향을 주고 있다고 생각하시나요?
KANG SEUNGHO: Feeling myself grow has always been a big source of motivation in my life. I’ve learned not to rush that growth, to breathe, to take things in slowly, and to move step by step. I think that mindset naturally influences how I play drums and subtly changes AGAMI’s sound.
내 스스로가 성장하고 있다는 것에 대한 성취감이 제 삶의 큰 원동력이라고 생각합니다. 성장하기 위해 서두르지 않고 숨을 쉬며 하나하나 느끼고 싶었던 제 경험이 아가미의 드러머로서 작은 변화를 주고 있다고 생각합니다.
NAM MINWOO: For me, I try to bring the sounds I’ve experienced at live shows. The ones that moved me or felt good to my ears, into my guitar tone. Those memories and impressions shape the way I play.
저 개인적으로 공연장에서 겪었거나 내가 듣기에 좋았던 사운드들을 내 기타 사운드에 입히려고 노력했던 것 같습니다.
KIM MINSEOK: I try to write lyrics honestly, based on my own experiences. I think that honesty makes the band feel more and more real.
개인적인 경험들로 솔직하게 가사를 쓰려고 노력하는데, 그런 솔직함이 밴드를 점점 더 진짜로 만들어 주는 것 같습니다.
LEE DAVID: I’ve loved music since I was young, and I’ve listened to and experimented with many genres. Because of that, I feel like I can instinctively sense what suits AGAMI and how we should shape our sound.
어릴 때부터 음악을 좋아해서 다양한 장르를 듣고 만들어 보기도 했던 경험들 덕에 무엇이 아가미에게 어울리고 어떻게 만들어가야 하는지 직감적으로 알게 되는 것 같아요.
How do you define AGAMI’s identity as a band, and what values guide your work together?
AGAMI를 한 단어로 정의한다면 어떤 밴드라고 말씀하고 싶으신가요? 그리고 여러분의 음악 활동을 이끄는 핵심 가치에는 어떤 것들이 있나요?
KIM MINSEOK: If I had to define AGAMI in one word, I’d choose “romance.” That’s the feeling I want our band to carry.
저는 아가미를 ‘낭만’이라고 정의하고 싶습니다.
KANG SEUNGHO: For me, AGAMI is “breath.” In life, we often forget how we’re even breathing. Through this band, I want to feel that breath again, together, and feel alive.
저에게 아가미는 ‘호흡’입니다. 살면서 내가 숨을 어떻게 쉬고 있는지 잊고 살아갈 때가 많은데, 밴드 활동을 통해 함께 숨을 쉬고 살아 있음을 느끼고 싶습니다.
LEE SEUNGHEE: I think we’re a band that moves forward by “breathing” together. There were moments when I wasn’t sure about the name AGAMI, but now it feels right. We really do adjust our breath to each other and exhale as one team.
‘호흡’하며 나아가는 밴드인 것 같습니다. 아가미라는 밴드명에 약간의 의구심이 들었던 순간도 있었지만, 지금은 정말 서로 호흡을 조절하고 맞춰 가며 함께 내뱉는 팀이 된 것 같습니다.
NAM MINWOO: I’d also say “breath.” At the end of the day, a band has to breathe together. That’s what makes it a band.
저도 ‘호흡’이라고 생각합니다. 결국 밴드는 호흡해야 하니까요.
LEE DAVID: I hope AGAMI truly becomes a breathing organ. Something that helps people breathe a little easier. If our music can give someone even a small amount of strength or comfort, that’s enough.
아가미는 정말 호흡기관이 되었으면 좋겠습니다. 우리 음악을 듣고 작게라도 힘을 얻고 위로가 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
JEONG CHANHO: For me, AGAMI is about “friendship” and “solidarity.” That’s the core of who we are.저는 아가미를 ‘우정’과 ‘연대’라고 표현하고 싶습니다.
What kind of music do you hope to make in the future that fans might not expect from you yet?
앞으로 팬분들이 아직 예상하지 못한 새로운 음악적 방향이나 시도를 해보고 싶은 부분이 있다면 무엇인가요?
KIM MINSEOK: I want us to try a lot of different kinds of music, without limiting ourselves. And personally, I’d love for us to make a short‑film style music video on our own someday. That idea keeps coming back to me.
다양한 음악들을 많이 해보고 싶고, 단편영화 형식의 뮤직비디오도 저희끼리 제작해보고 싶다는 생각을 합니다.
NAM MINWOO: I feel like we don’t have a fixed “color” yet, and maybe that’s actually our color right now. Because of that, I want us to try anything and everything that feels right to us, in whatever direction we naturally grow.
우리에게는 아직 색깔이 없다, 이게 우리의 색깔인 것 같아서 앞으로 우리가 납득하는 모든 방향에서 여러 시도를 해보고 싶습니다.
What does success look like for AGAMI at this stage of your journey?
지금 이 시점에서 AGAMI에게 ‘성공’이란 어떤 의미인가요?
LEE DAVID: For me, success would be seeing our name on the lineups of different rock festivals. That’s a milestone I really want us to reach.
저는 여기저기 록 페스티벌 라인업에 이름을 올리고 싶습니다.
NAM MINWOO: To me, success is when someone who doesn’t know us as actors hears our music and nods along, when the music speaks for itself, without any background attached.
배우로서의 각자를 모르는 사람이 우리 노래를 들었을 때 끄덕끄덕하는 것이라고 생각합니다.
What do you hope listeners feel or take away when they hear “Breath” for the first time?
“Breath”를 처음 듣는 분들이 어떤 감정이나 메시지를 느끼셨으면 하나요?
LEE DAVID: I hope that in those moments when someone feels like they can’t breathe, this song becomes even a small air hole for them, something that lets a little bit of air in.
숨이 턱 막히는 순간에 이 노래가 작은 숨구멍이 되어주었으면 좋겠습니다.
NAM MINWOO: I hope people feel, “Ah, these guys are sincere.” That’s really all I want.
“아, 이 사람들 진심이구나”라는 느낌이 들었으면 좋겠습니다.
As a new band, what kind of relationship do you hope to build with your listeners and future fans?
신인 밴드로서, 앞으로 청취자들과 팬분들과 어떤 관계를 만들어가고 싶으신가요?
LEE DAVID: I hope our music gives people even a little bit of strength. We’ve received a lot of comfort through making music ourselves, so I want to share that feeling with others.
저희 음악을 듣고 조금이라도 힘이 나셨으면 좋겠습니다. 저희도 음악을 하면서 많은 위로를 받았기 때문에, 그 마음을 나누고 싶습니다.
NAM MINWOO: I hope people can feel that we’re making music sincerely. And I hope they’ll trust that sincerity and stay with us for a long time.
저희가 진심으로 음악을 하고 있다는 걸 느끼셨으면 좋겠습니다. 그리고 그 진심을 믿고 오래 함께해 주셨으면 합니다.
Is there anything you’d like to say to listeners who are discovering AGAMI for the first time?
AGAMI를 처음 알게 된 분들께 전하고 싶은 말이 있다면 무엇인가요?
