A personal conversation with SYA about transition, healing, and self-discovery in his latest release.
I’ve followed BLITZERS since their viral breakthrough with “MACARENA,” and over time, I’ve watched SYA grow into an artist defined by emotional depth, thoughtful lyricism, and a clear dedication to his craft. Now, with the release of his first full studio album, 23:24, SYA enters a defining new chapter, one that reflects both artistic maturity and a deeper commitment to telling his story with intention.
23:24 exists in the delicate space between two ages, two states of mind, and two emotional realities—collapse and recovery. Across eight tracks, SYA invites listeners into his most vulnerable moments and the gradual process of healing that follows. With his involvement in every song's writing and composition, the album stands as his most personal and unfiltered body of work to date, offering honesty, introspection, and emotional clarity.
In our exclusive interview, SYA speaks candidly about the emotional transitions behind 23:24, his creative process, and what this album represents in his life at this point. He also reflects on his growth since “Bloom,” his collaboration with fellow BLITZERS member WOOJU, and the message he hopes listeners will take away as they navigate their own periods of change.
Hi SYA, and congratulations on your first full album, ‘23:24.’ What do you hope fans who are struggling or in a transition phase take away from this album?
SYA: I wanted to capture my life as a person, and I hope that comes across well.
This album feels very honest and vulnerable. Was it ever scary to release something so personal?
SYA: To be completely honest, I was filled with fear and uncertainty. Still, I strongly felt that I needed to release this album. I wanted my voice—my story—to exist in the world, even if it meant facing my fears.
‘23:24’ represents a boundary between two ages and two mindsets. What emotional or personal shift were you experiencing during that in-between time?
SYA: My life circumstances and situation were confusing, and I think I struggled a lot during that time. Still, I prepared for this by reminding myself not to waver and to stay focused on what I needed to do.
If you could describe the album to listeners in one emotion or phrase, what would it be?
SYA: An autobiography.

The album is described as capturing both collapse and recovery. Was there a specific moment or experience that marked the turning point for you?
SYA: In a way, simply living my life became a turning point for me. The circumstances weren’t good, and you could say this album was born out of that difficult time.
Your first single, “Bloom,” felt like a hopeful starting point. How do you see your growth from “Bloom” to ‘23:24’?
SYA: Even in difficult circumstances, I believe I’ve managed not to lose myself and have continued to grow by staying focused on my music.
You participated in writing and composing every track on the album. What did having full creative control allow you to express that you hadn’t before?
SYA: Nothing has changed drastically, but throughout the process of writing lyrics and composing, I kept thinking about how to more clearly communicate my circumstances and the stories behind them.
The title track “STAY” anchors the album. What does “staying” mean to you in this chapter of your life?
SYA: As mentioned in the song descriptions, I included messages I wanted to share with my fans, and on a personal level, I see this as a new beginning.
“LANDFILL,” “DONE,” and “BURN” are powerful titles. Can you talk about how you translate heavy emotions into song titles and themes?
SYA: I tend to write while thinking carefully about how to convey the literal meaning of the words as clearly as possible.
“235803” was cowritten with WOOJU from BLITZERS. What made this collaboration special, and how did working with WOOJU shape the song emotionally or creatively?
SYA: It wasn’t my first time working with Wooju, but it was our first time collaborating on my solo album, so it felt like a new challenge for me as well. I really appreciated how Wooju worked on the music in a way that matched the feeling he envisioned, and I think it helped make the overall sound much richer.

Was there a song on this album that was the hardest to write or finish and why?
SYA: There weren’t really any songs that were particularly difficult to create, but I do remember that while recording “DONE,” my throat was hurting a lot.
Looking back, how do you feel about the version of yourself at 23—and how different do you feel now at 24?
SYA: When I was 23, I think I was a bit immature and had a somewhat naive, impulsive side. At 24, I feel that I’ve become a little more mature and thoughtful, someone who approaches things with deeper consideration.
Now that you’ve told this story through ‘23:24,’ what kind of story do you want your next project to tell?
SYA: I want to try expressing my thoughts on society as a whole. I’ve always been drawn to conscious rap, and because it’s a style of music I’ve long wanted to try, I feel excited to take on this challenge and see where it leads creatively.
If someone were discovering SYA for the first time through ‘23:24,’ what’s one thing you’d want them to know about you as a person?
SYA: I want to show and share that there are people making this kind of music, and that there are idols who are also creating this kind of music.
Lastly, please leave a message for fans reading this.
SYA: Thank you so much for waiting for this album. I will continue to repay your support with even better music in the future. Thank you again.
