Get to know more about LUNEDI and the journey behind her first solo release.
Watching LUNEDI step into her solo era feels like witnessing an artist finally meet herself. Best known as Monday, the main vocalist of Weeekly, she’s always carried her music with power and heart—but now, she’s carrying her own story, too. As a K-pop journalist who lives for these kinds of transformations, LUNEDI’s journey from girl group standout to solo storyteller is the kind of evolution that feels both earned and deeply inspiring.
Her solo debut single, “Face Myself,” released on December 7, 2025, isn’t just a new sound—it’s a new perspective. Rooted in introspection, honesty, and self-reflection, the track invites listeners into her inner world, where vulnerability becomes strength and self-discovery becomes the message. Rather than reaching outward, LUNEDI turns inward, using music as both mirror and confession, creating something that feels intimate, empowering, and unmistakably hers.

In our exclusive interview, LUNEDI opens up about what this moment truly means to her—the emotions behind her solo debut, the creative journey that shaped “Face Myself,” and how this new chapter reflects her growth not just as a performer, but as a person. From where she’s been to where she’s headed, she shares her story with the same authenticity she now brings to her music—and it’s a story well worth listening to.
Welcome, LUNEDI! Congratulations on your solo debut with “Face Myself.” How does it feel to finally introduce yourself to the world under this new name?
LUNEDI: Hi, this is LUNEDI. Honestly, it still feels a little unreal. Just a few months ago, I was sitting by myself, going through endless name ideas. So being able to finally introduce myself to the world as LUNEDI feels really special. I’ve done a lot of interviews before, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt this excited. Introducing myself as part of Weeekly and as Monday is still familiar, but thanks to you, I feel like I’ve taken my first real step as LUNEDI. I’m excited to be here—thank you.
The title “Face Myself” suggests honesty and reflection. What inspired you to choose this as the starting point for your solo journey?
LUNEDI: Since this is my first release as a solo artist, I spent considerable time thinking about what kind of story I wanted to tell. After completing my group activities, the first challenge I faced was self-reflection. I started questioning everything—from how I want to live my life to what kind of music I should make, and even whether I truly love music. Going back to those basic questions made me realize I hadn’t really faced myself before. I’ve always wanted to make music that feels honest and personal, so I decided to turn those thoughts and doubts into my starting point.
How did working on this release differ from past projects in terms of decision-making and having ownership over your music?
LUNEDI: This project felt completely different from anything I’ve done before. The biggest difference was the level of involvement I had at every step. In the past, I mostly focused on following a set plan. But with FACE MYSELF, everything—from deciding to release the album to the final details—was in my hands. It was my first real chance to tell my own story through music, and that alone made it a totally new experience. It was definitely challenging, but it also pushed me to grow the most as an artist.
As a soloist, how did you approach shaping the mood, sound, and message of “Face Myself”?
LUNEDI: When I started working on the song, I already knew the message I wanted to share. It was about the struggles I’ve been through over the past year and how I found my way through them.
I didn’t want the song to feel too heavy, so I focused more on encouragement and reassurance.
I wanted it to feel like someone genuinely cheering you on.
Sound-wise, my goal was to create something powerful that really shows my vocals. After a lot of trial and error with my collaborators, we landed on the bold, intense sound you hear in FACE MYSELF.

Vocally and emotionally, was there anything you challenged yourself to try for the first time on this song?
LUNEDI: Honestly, everything about this song felt like a challenge. But vocally, this was on another level. My mixed voice comfortably reaches up to A5, and my chest voice is supported up to C#5.
Instead of placing the high notes in the bridge, as most songs do, this track pushes my range from the chorus onward. At first, I thought, “There’s no way I can sing this live.”
But since I made the song myself, I had no choice but to keep practicing. I worked on it more than any song I’ve done since my trainee days. Eventually, I found a new way to approach those notes, and now I can confidently perform them live. This song really helped me break my own limits and level up vocally.
What did preparing for your solo debut teach you about yourself that you didn’t expect to learn?
LUNEDI: I learned that I’m way more of an ISFP than I thought. My MBTI used to change frequently, but this one feels pretty permanent now.
When you listen to “Face Myself” now, which part of the song feels the most true to who you are today?
LUNEDI: This part really hits home for me:
“Give it all, I feel my best
I will do it on my way
Paint my own life by myself.”
When I wrote those lyrics, they were more like a wish. But now, after releasing FACE MYSELF, I feel like I’m actually living them—finding happiness in my own way and creating my own path.
What role did self-trust play in making creative decisions throughout this debut process?
LUNEDI: To be honest, I didn’t have much self-trust at the beginning. Even up until the day my name was revealed, I kept asking myself, “Is this really right?” And even on release day, I wondered, “Did I make the right choice?”
But I eventually realized that self-distrust, especially when your self-esteem is already low, only eats away at you. In a way, creating this song helped me learn how to trust myself. Working on this project slowly helped me change my mindset from “What if this goes wrong?” to “Whatever happens, I’ll be okay.” I started trusting LUNEDI more than anyone else. This debut didn’t just require self-trust—it helped me build it.

How much of LUNEDI’s personal story do you feel comfortable sharing through music, and how do you decide where to draw that line?
LUNEDI: This is actually my first time writing so directly about my own story, so I’m still figuring out where that line is. But my life motto has always been honesty. As long as it doesn’t cross into discomfort, I want to continue blending my personal experiences into more universal, relatable stories and share them through music.
When listeners hear “Face Myself,” what do you hope they feel or connect with in their own lives?
LUNEDI: I have one clear hope. I want this song to reach anyone struggling to face themselves and to deliver a message of encouragement. For those who doubt themselves or feel their confidence fading, I hope this song can say, “It’s your time now—you’re about to shine,” and give them the strength to stand back up again.
How do you hope listeners come to understand LUNEDI as an artist after hearing your solo debut for the first time?
LUNEDI: I hope people see me as an artist with a lot more to show. I’ve been singing for almost ten years, and that experience has helped me become highly versatile across different genres.
I don’t want to be limited to one sound. I want to keep exploring and surprising people, so I hope listeners stay curious about what’s coming next.
What’s one behind-the-scenes moment from preparing your solo debut that fans might be surprised to hear about?
LUNEDI: My fans probably won’t be that surprised, since they know me so well—but I actually recorded the high-note ad-libs in the bridge in just two takes.
After completing “Face Myself,” what do you feel most confident about as a solo artist moving forward?
LUNEDI: My vocals, for sure. It’s something I’m very hard on myself about, but also something I take a lot of pride in. This song was technically really challenging, and getting through it gave me a big confidence boost.
Are there themes, sounds, or emotions you’re especially excited to explore in future releases under the name LUNEDI?
LUNEDI: I love so many genres—rock ballads, pop ballads, jazz—so I’m excited to dive into all of them and show more sides of myself through future releases. I also love performing, especially on stages that involve dancing, so I’d really like to create more opportunities to perform with choreography too.
Lastly, please leave a message for fans who are reading this interview.
LUNEDI: Hi everyone! It feels like it’s been a while since I last talked to you through an interview. I don’t usually get to share this much about an album, so I hope you enjoyed it. I love music, but more than anything, I love my fans and being on stage with you. I can’t wait to meet you again soon.
Thank you for always being there for me. I love you, and I miss you so much.
