It’s been nearly three years since Yerin Baek’s last concert performance in Seoul, but on December 21, 2022, fans braved the bitter Seattle cold for an extraordinary occasion. The final U.S. tour stop of the 2022 Yerin Baek North America Tour was here, and they weren’t going to miss it.

The tour not only marked yet another impressive milestone in Yerin's career (her first ever North American tour) but was also a momentous occasion attendees won’t soon forget.

Let’s dive in.

Fan-Favorite Songs

The crowd exploded into screams and applause as Yerin took the stage. The multitalented singer-songwriter extraordinaire was ready (as were the fans), and she didn't keep them waiting, kicking off what would be an amazing night with the song “Lovegame.” Following a brief hello to the crowd, Yerin said, “You’re so lonely now that you need me back by your side again,” to build off overwhelming fan excitement.

After her whimsical first few songs, Yerin moved on to perform a round of fan-favorite songs, encouraging the audience to sing along with her. She impressed me with her consistent stage presence throughout the night, not shying away from explicit lyrics or anecdotal comments about the message behind the song. This included songs like “Hate You,” “Ms. Delicate,” “lovelovelove,” and “Popo (how deep is over love?),” to name a few. The setlist was not exclusively limited to tracks off her latest albums or EPs but was twenty-four songs in length, including some of her earlier hits like “November Song” and “Bye bye my blue.”

Throughout the night, the Neptune Theatre's energy was relaxed yet palpable. Fans weren’t shy to let Yerin know they were excited to meet her after so long. In comparison, Yerin’s vocal talent and the impressive breadth of her decade-long music industry expertise were on full display.

A Person of Many Words

True to her cool girl, devil-may-care vibe, Yerin is a woman of many words when it matters. Known for her candid and straightforward lyrics that often touch on personal topics, Yerin chose to skip the “usual” K-Pop concert setup of various (and sometimes lengthy) speech breaks, VCRs, and overly flashy special effects. Instead, she spent her time performing more songs.

Needless to say, Yerin shined brightly throughout her inaugural tour stop in Seattle, and I can’t wait to see her perform the next time she’s in town.
