Go behind the scenes with Jaehan, Xen, Jehyun, and Yechan as they debut as OX:N, OMEGA X’s first sub-unit. In our exclusive interview, the members share the stories, emotions, and creative vision behind their first EP, ‘N.’
Since their debut, OMEGA X has consistently captivated listeners with their dynamic performances and heartfelt storytelling. Now, four members of the group—Jaehan, Xen, Jehyun, and Yechan—are stepping into the spotlight as OX:N, the first official sub-unit of OMEGA X. Set to debut on June 20, 2025, with their mini-album N, OX:N represents a bold new chapter. The unit’s name cleverly merges “OX,” short for OMEGA X, with the Roman numeral “IV,” stylized as “N,” symbolizing the four members and their unified commitment to carrying the group’s legacy forward.

The sub-unit’s concept ties together the past, present, and future through the independent yet interconnected symbols O, X, and N—an artistic expression of the group’s hope that both the members and fans will continue to journey together under the name OMEGA X. Their debut EP N features five diverse tracks, including the funk-tinged title track “YOU,” the emotional “LET ME IN,” and the rock ballad “CAUSE OF YOU,” a love letter to their fandom, FOR X. With contributions from members Xen and Jaehan, the album showcases not only their musical growth but also their personal stories and artistry.
In an exclusive interview, we caught up with OX:N about their highly anticipated debut. From behind-the-scenes moments during the making of N to their creative inspirations and dreams for the future, the four members open up about stepping into this new era and what it means to walk the path together, now not just as OMEGA X, but as OX:N.
Congratulations on your debut as OX:N! What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away after experiencing your subunit debut mini-album?
Jaehan: I hope they can feel that they are loved, and I hope everyone can learn to love themselves. One thing I wish for everyone is that we can all share love in a healthy, stable way.
Xen: Since this album announces the beginning of OX:N, we filled it up with songs that best showcase our strengths and who we are. We also tried to convey our emotions to the fans who have been eagerly waiting for us, and we look forward to enjoying various activities with them in the future.
Your EP ‘N’ connects past, present, and future through a unique worldview. If you could send a message to your past self, present self, and future self through this album, what would it be?
Yechan: To my past self, I want to remind him that it’s okay to take time and slowly push forward, because I recently thought about how I was being narrow-sighted due to my tendency to rush things. The best advice I can give to my present self is to take care of my health! I want to present the best version of myself when meeting our fans. To my future self, I want to ask: "How are you enjoying your successful life?"
Jehyun: I would like to say, "Don’t even start if you’ll ever regret your decision of starting anything," to myself in the past, present, and future. Also, I want to add that it’s important to gain energy to move forward by looking back at the reason behind my own decision.

This EP features five diverse tracks. Which song did you connect with the most personally, and why?
Yechan: I was able to resonate with “ORPHEUS” the most, especially with its lyrics. I imagined how Orpheus and Eurydice would have felt, as the song was inspired by their story. This track conveys the desperation and pureness of love.
Xen: It would be “LET ME IN,” which I participated in the composition. Its lyrics, which resemble movie lines and directly express ‘let me in,’ felt quite desperate yet cool, and I think the track overall gained a more sexy vibe from the contrasting emotions portrayed in the song.
The title track, “YOU,” has a strong Y2K and millennial vibe. What was the concept behind this sound, and how did you approach bringing it to life?
Jaehan: I thought we would need to bring out the formal image to really accentuate the song’s concept. We prioritized keeping that mood in our choreography when we were practicing. We also looked up some reference videos of artists from the Y2K, millennial generations.
Yechan: Another aspect we focused on was to keep the vocal tone as calm, stable, and groovy as possible. I also liked the fact that our title track did not have any rap part. Even though the overall mood of “YOU” relates to the Y2K concept, but we wanted to add our own charming, modern twist to it, so we practiced a lot on our choreography and facial expressions.

“SUIT&TIE” and “YOU” have very different vibes. Which song do you feel best shows a side of OX:N that fans haven’t seen before?
Yechan: I think “SUIT&TIE” is a new kind of song that even OMEGA X hasn’t tried before. It has a vibe that reminds me of a Western movie with a unique, raw vibe, which made the production process really interesting. On stage, we want to showcase that raw sense of freedom the song carries.
Jaehan: I think every track on this album was a new challenge for us. While “SUIT&TIE” has a rougher, more masculine vibe, “YOU” brings out a more romantic side. Through this unit's debut album, we aimed to showcase a variety of sides that we had not been able to express before.
Is there a particular part of the album each of you is most proud of—whether a song you participated in creating, a vocal delivery, or a choreography point?
Xen: While preparing for the OX:N album, we did face some real-life challenges, and there were times when we felt our limits. However, the fact that we pushed through, took that extra step, and made it happen with persistence makes me feel proud of both myself and the members.
Yechan: From the moment the unit's debut was confirmed, we were directly involved in every aspect of the album, including concept, songs, choreography, direction, and scheduling. Our hard work and personal touch are reflected throughout this album. We’re especially proud of the process of collaborating day and night with the producers who took part in this album and building it together from the ground up.

How does OX:N’s music and concept differ from OMEGA X’s group activities, and what new sides of yourselves do you want to show?
Jaehan: We aimed to show a more restrained yet mature image this time. From the song’s structure to the choreography, we put a lot of effort into presenting a more grown and refined side of ourselves that feels distinct from what we've shown as OMEGA X.
Jehyun: While OMEGA X has focused on showcasing more of an idol-like side, with this unit album, we wanted to highlight an artistic and mature side of ourselves with a more relaxed and confident attitude.
Your album’s worldview connects the past, present, and future. How do you see OX:N supporting the entire OMEGA X group through this concept?
Yechan: I hope that OX:N continues to grow successfully and becomes a group that shines even brighter when all the OMEGA X members reunite. More than anything, I want every member to always feel that OMEGA X is a home we can all gather together at any time.
Xen: As the name OX:N suggests, our unit was formed to support all 11 members of OMEGA X. We believe that OX:N in the present can become the force that protects both the past and future of OMEGA X.
As a subunit, how do you think your individual personalities and strengths come together differently than in the full group?
Yechan: When there are 11 members, I naturally took on the role of the youngest, often following and accepting the opinions of the older members. But now, as a group of four, I’ve found myself taking a more active and independent role, bringing up things our team needs to consider and working through them together. I definitely feel a greater sense of responsibility and pressure.
Jaehan: As part of OMEGA X, with 11 members, I often had to take the lead in gathering everyone’s opinions and finding compromises. With the unit group, those roles are more evenly distributed among us. Because of that, I’ve been able to let go of some of the pressure I used to feel as a leader of OMEGA X. (laughs)

As a four-member unit, what unique chemistry or dynamic do you think you bring to the table?
Jaehan: I couldn’t help feeling like we’re missing something compared to when we were promoting as an 11-member group. To fill that emptiness, we focused even more on preparing and showing the sides of ourselves that we truly want to convey. We hope you’ll look forward to seeing the new sides that the four of us will present.
Jehyun: When our unit group was announced, many fans saw it as a fresh and new combination. We hope you’ll enjoy watching the friendly yet surprising chemistry among us that comes from this unique and refreshing combination.
What was the most memorable moment during the preparation and recording of your debut EP?
Xen: It would be from when I was working on “LET ME IN.” While the repeated revisions to achieve better song quality were both enjoyable and stressful, I believe that process was necessary to create a great track. Looking back, it was definitely a crucial moment.
Yechan: Our dance lessons had to fit into very tight schedules, and because the choreography had so many steps, my leg muscles got tight and sore. It was a painful process, but thinking about getting back on stage and meeting our fans made my heart excited, despite my legs hurting.
The closing track, “CAUSE OF YOU,” is a tribute to your fans. How has the fandom influenced your journey, and what makes this song meaningful to you?
Jaehan: I believe we were able to find light in the darkness despite facing several challenging situations, all thanks to our fans, FOR X, who never stopped trusting and supporting us. That is why we consider a lot about songs that can carry our sincere message to them. “CAUSE OF YOU” is special just like our previous tracks, “DREAM” and “ISLAND,” as they’re all dedicated to our fans.
Jehyun: FOR X is the reason why we exist, because we did not give up when we faced many difficult situations. I think “CAUSE OF YOU” is special enough because it is a song that sends our true feelings and appreciation to FOR X.

Thinking about the themes of love and longing in your songs, how do you personally define love in the context of your lives right now?
Xen: I believe love is like the air we breathe in life, or proof that we’re truly living. It’s something we must continue: loving ourselves, our friends, our family. Maybe that sounds a bit idealistic! (laughs) But love isn’t just about romantic relationships. Love is something we have for ourselves, our family, our friends, our members, and our fans. I think love should exist in every corner of our lives.
Yechan: I think love is a complex emotion as it is both sweet and painful. Inevitably, love carries a sense of longing, and where there’s longing, love exists as well. I believe the lyrics of “YOU” beautifully narrate these emotions about love. They express that bittersweet emotion when you fall in love and want to give everything to the other person, even before fully realizing your feelings yourself.
What are your goals as OX:N moving forward, and how do you plan to keep evolving as artists?
Jaehan: As we continue with diverse and consistent activities, I want to introduce new music more frequently in the future. I hope to grow into an artist who remains memorable to our fans for a long time through continuous work and effort.
Xen: As this is our first debut as a unit, there are so many things we want to achieve. We aim to be recognized musically by more people and also promote both OX:N and OMEGA X. I believe all 11 members are working diligently in their respective positions to make that happen. Through our music, I want to become an artist who sings about life honestly and authentically while living in the present and embracing the diverse realities of life.
Lastly, please leave a message for FOR X reading this.
Jaehan: Please send much love and support for OX:N and our new beginning. I hope to stay happy with FOR X, and to meet you all with good music and performances. Thank you, FOR X.
Xen: FOR X! Let’s live our present moment fully! I always support you, and love you very much.
Jehyun: Thank you so much for waiting. I hope our unit activities will create great new memories for you all. Again, thank you so, so much, FOR X!
Yechan: Hi FOR X, I’ve missed you so much. Since we had a hiatus of about six months, I was very eager for this album, N. With this album, I look forward to sharing my thoughts and identity that have changed and grown over the last few months. Thank you for joining our new journey.
